From the Desk of Mr. Kolopanis…
Bailey Has Another Award-Winning Year(from Red Around Town)The past 2011-2012 school year was another award-winning year for the students at Bailey. The Science Academic Bowl Team placed sixth in the state. This is the team's third year in a row of placing in Indiana's top 10. The Spell Bowl Team placed first in the region and district while the Math Bowl Team scored its highest score ever. Bailey had more students receive a Pass + on state testing that ever before. Principal Terry Kolopanis commented on the awards, "I am proud of Bailey students and their efforts! Thanks to our parents for their continued support and role in these achievements."
The 2012-2013 school year is shaping up to be filled with exciting activities and challenges as the teachers and staff work to provide students with an excellent education. The state has recognized Bailey as an exemplary school and again has given it an "A" designation. Whether it's because of the Full-Day Kindergarten program, the many successes students have or the challenging activities, there's an exciting buzz for this new school year. Teachers have been busily preparing for this year to help students achieve their highest potential while focusing on life skills and good citizenship.
Parents are invited to join PTU (Parents and Teachers United), the parent/teacher organization at Bailey. PTU works to plan and support the school, students and staff and provide a full range of support for all of the school's needs. Debbie Cruz, PTU president, would remind parents that Market Day orders will be distributed in August, or parents may place an order online at www.marketday.com. With any questions, you are welcome to stop by the school office or call (219)962-1302.
